Finally! An affordable solution for budget NIKON CLS Enthusiasts!

I am what I consider a Semi-Pro photographer. I do it because I love it, Once in a while I get a paying gig. I do all sorts of stuff including event photography.

I bought one of these for my home studio for some special projects. I wanted something that would work with the Nikon CLS system, I NEEDED something with an external battery pack for long shoots and rapid fire shooting - but I couldn't afford a new SB800 or SB900.

The 8 "AA" cell external battery pack was about 50 bucks - I was thrilled!

I read the reviews - I saw an awful lot said about firing it 20 times and it dies... I am no stranger to electronics so the first thing I did when I got it was wring it out in the studio. I figured if I didn't kill it the first night in the studio - it may work for a shoot!

I fired it off a lot more than 20 times! However - they state VERY plainly in the manual that if... Read more

This flash is great. Does exactly what its intended to do. Save yourself some $$ and get this flash. Has a lot of useful features and looks just as good as the name brand units. I use it with the Yongnou RF-603 N3 receivers/ transmitters. They are outstanding. I do a lot of shooting with my speed lights off camera and this unit works like any of my SB series speed lights. Quality of the product also seems to be on par with others at a fraction of the price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to add to or just starting off with using a flash. Thanks for taking the time to read.

As an owner of a Nikon branded speedlight, I was hesitant to spend $200 on an unabashedly Chinese-made "off-brand unit marketed as directly comparable. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by its build quality and functionality. Although it has limitations (syncs only to 1/320, LCD graphics are archaic and oddly abbreviated), it will be an excellent back up and slave unit. It reacts perfectly to the Nikon CLS signal and even has an available power pack. I have not been able to test it yet under heavy use conditions, but I will heed others ' suggestion to use it on reduced power (was I do with my branded flash) to avoid over heating. For $200, it's worth it.
